The business of finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is complicated. Much of the time, a lot of it starts with a chance encounter. You meet many people in a lifetime and you love many people, too. But of all the people you’ve met and all the people you love, there is one person that you have chosen to be your companion in life for better or worse. And that is the person you are going to marry.
By comparison, the business of marriage is much more easily managed. Really! It’s much easier to get married than to fall in love, but it takes a lot of planning, budgeting, and organizing. To start, you and your partner need sit together and create two important lists.
The first is a list of must-haves for your big day. Anything either of you definitely want goes on the list. Champagne fountain? Photo booth? Band for the reception? An out-of-this-world venue? It all goes on the list, and then two of you and the budget decides what stays or goes.
The second list is must-have guests. You and your love make a complete list of friends and loved ones. Then, if you so desire, pass the list along to your parents and future in-laws to add their must-have guests for your wedding. Again, the budget will dictate your guest count.
Try to remember that there are no rules when it comes to celebrating your marriage. There are as many options as there are couples in the world. Everyone is entitled to spend their wedding day exactly the way they want to. There are really only two people who need to approve your wedding plans; Mr. and Mrs. You Two.
